"This place has been on my to-do list for a while — after all, it’s been around since 1986. Getting there feels a bit unusual, as you walk through an older shopping centre, but once inside the atmosphere shifts completely. From the start, the welcome was warm and genuine. The lovely Italian lady (Franco’s sister) was fantastic with her recommendations and daily specials — you can really feel the passion behind the food. The menu is classic, no-frills Italian cooking done right. I went with the tagliatelle mussel pasta in a light cream and tomato base, while Anna chose the butternut conch pasta. Both dishes were beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for honest, old-school Italian food served with heart, this spot is worth the visit"

"I'm no expert in Italian gastronomy but the food at Franco's tastes very authentic. I was pleasantly surprised to see how big their portions are and how generous they are with the amount of cheese that comes with the dishes. They have a really good service with knowledgeable waiters. It's refreshing to see how well the waiters know their menu. Good prices. Definitely coming back. However, one aspect of their service that they could improve on is how they welcome their customers. My partner and I felt out of place as no one really approached us when we walked in, it felt like we weren't welcome. Luckily the service improved drastically once we were seated down."

"Fantastic Italian food find in the Parkmore area for us. The food was authentic and the specials were very well priced and tasty. Service was good, although we did wait around 20 mins for a main: was worth the wait! Good portions and well presented. The pizza was magnificent. My one and only criticism is that the restaurant is very warm inside, on the hot day we visited, and not sure if this was due to loadshedding as well. Will probably be marvellous in Winter. Definitely recommended. PS The restaurant also doesn't charge for the first bottle for corkage: nice touch in these tough times!"

"Franco’s pizzeria is such a gem. Situated on Tyrone avenue in Parkwood, this cosy Italian restaurant moved to the current location in 1986. The food is really good, and they run different specials everyday. The atmosphere here is warm and cosy and is perfect for an intimate date or a meal with the entire family. The food is REALLY well priced. The service is good. I’ve come here for years and I will continue to do so. Highly recommended!"

"What a gem! Warm homely atmosphere. Very accommodating. We are small eaters and they gladly shared our portion of the most exquisite Pork belly roast and linguine. Started with a lovely cheesy garlic focaccia. Can definitely recommend. Thank you Franco"
